Cleaning Hinges Secret

I am so happy to have found this secret from a friend. Redoing our kitchen we didn't want to have to buy all new hinges and matching the screw holes or having to make new holes in the cabinets. The before was full of grime and old finish.

The before:

And after soaking them in PURE Ammonia overnight (Covered), and rinsing them clean this is the end result! I couldn't be more happy with them. Still plan on giving them a new finish but goodness look at them shine now!

Bright coordinating Pillows

I wanted to get some bright fun colored pillows but didn't want to have to buy all new ones at $14.99+ for each one. So I used a 40% off coupon at Joann's buying a yard of fabric and just recovered my old pillows.
Total cost $5.49 for 5 new pillows !

Cutting Corks for crafts

Pinterest fail;
Pinterest post says that if you soak the corks in hot water for 10 minutes before cutting they won't crumble.  Pinterest Post

I wanted to make these magnets with corks. I soaked the corks and went to cut them and this is what happened.

Not very pretty or straight to attach a magnet to. Looks like they crumbled to me.

Metal Cardboard letters

Pinterest approved. I'm cheap, did you notice that yet?!

>I took an old box and cut out my own letters for our kitchen "YUM" after cutting them out
>I made a design using elmers glue, which did not make the design raised up enough so I went over the same design with hot glue, much better!
>Then I folded tin foil over each letter, and
>finished it with Oil rubbed bronze spray paint. Love how the silver in the tin foil popped out.

I didn't pay a dime for this project, because I already had tin foil and spray paint on hand.

I could have made them thicker but I wanted to hang them without having to use nails or anything that could/would damage the walls, so I hung them with 3M tacky compound.
Sorry for the blurry pictures.

Notebook with Style

Supplies;
Cardstock, thick quilting needle, thread, and given amount of paper you desire.

Cut the paper and cardstock to desired size, make marks along both the cardstock and paper about 1/4 inch apart along the binding. start "sewing" the paper to the cardstock using the quilting needle and thread.

Use coordinating ducktape or similar along the binding to hide the threading.

If you desire make a design on the outside, I chose a simple heart design. A easy cheap way to add personality to your journals, notebooks etc.

Wicker Trunk Redo on a Budget

The Before:
$5 Craigslist find

The supplies, 1/2 batting for cushion, fabric to cover cushion

Adding some legs, a little extra wood glue

Attaching the legs, easy with a washer on the inside

And there they are, all the legs attached!

And let the spraypainting begin!

And the final product! How beatiful :)
Also spraypainted the hinges. And sewed the fabric as a slipcover for the cushion.

Twine box from cardboard box

Pinterest creation! So glad I pinned this one, a cardboard box turned into organizational basket.
Cardboard box
Twine
Left over fabric
Hot glue gun with hot glue
Start with box in the size of your preference, hot glue starting end of twine to either top or bottom of the box and wrap twine all the way up or down the box when finished hot glue the ending part of the twine. Take fabric to line the inside and outer edges of the box hold in place with more hot glue. Simple project takes about 20 minutes depending on the size of box you choose.
Can't wait to make more of these for my office organization. Will be hitting up the remnant section at joanns
Like the project!? Pin it, sharing is caring :)
