Door Decor for kids

Using a command hook upside down I hung this frame (that Daddy made)with ribbon for Hayden's room. I love the personalization and the fact that I can easily take it down with no damage.

I should probably tie it in a pretty bow, but you get the idea!

Baby Boy Bowtie

Scrambling to find something quick for our Easter pics I turned to Pinterest and found a tutorial here for this cute bowtie. Using leftover fabric from a previous project. Super easy and cheap considering all you need is a 5x5 piece of fabric and was able to finish the whole thing during naptime. Here is the finished bowtie!

Can't wait to see my little man all dressed up for Easter pics :)

ETA: Look how precious he looks with his bowtie :)

Hot curling iron holder

Using pot holders found at the dollar store I sewed along the side and the top to make a pocket. Since my pot holder was kinda dull I also sewed a strip of ribbon to give it a little extra sprucing up.

So perfect to be able to put away when it's still hot and get off the counter.

Such a simple project after purchasing a quilting needle this took about 5 minutes. What do you think, will you make one?

DIY backsplash ideas

So I really want to do a backsplash behind our stove, without the help of my husband.... Here are some ideas I found to contemplate from pinterest.

Peel and stick "glass" tiles;

Ikea placemat tiles; easily interchangable;

Taping off the walls and painting;

Faux tin tiles;

Chalkboard backsplash;

If you have any great ideas to share please do! I'd love to see them! Or if you want to help me decide let me know your feedback!

Beef Thai style lettuce wraps

1lb Ground beef
1T rice vinegar
2T Chili sauce
1pkg Ramen noodles
2T Chili sauce
1T peanut butter
2T Soy sauce
Romaine hearts

Brown ground beef with the rice vinegar and chili sauce to really get that flavor cooked in! Drain grease. In the meantime also boil water and cook the ramen noodles, once ramen is cooked drain the excess water and add the chili sauce (more if you want it really spicy) peanut butter and soy sauce. Mix together well, chop up the ramen noodles-makes it easier to place mixture in the lettuce. Add ramen mixture to the ground beef mix all together. Once mixed well add a dallop or large spoonful to each lettuce heart. Serve and enjoy!!!

I actually added way more chili sauce and it was a little too spicy for our liking so I adjusted the amount for the recipe. But we still loved them and they were fairly easy to make. If you make this and love it let me know or if you make your own adjustments please share!

Weekend Sewing fail... :(

Well most of my weekend pinterest projects failed :(  Its either my sewing capabilities (I'm very lazy at it) or my materials were not the best.

First off the mittens, I'm too embarassed to show a picture of my outcome, they were terrible lets just say that!

Secondly my shirt, not so great! My husband says I need to slow down and take my time, well whats the point of it being a simple easy project then if it takes me all day? Well needless to say I ruined the shirts with my inability to cut out nice shapes.

And lastly well the boot socks or whatever you wanna call them turned out pretty cute, I like the outcome.

You can find the pintest post here

After a much failed crafters weekend, I may attempt these projects again when I am willing to spend more time on them, if or when I do I will post updates! Thanks for looking!

Vanilla in the oven--Heavenly smell

Pintest post here or here states that if you put 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract in a coffee mug in the oven at 300 degrees within 15 minutes your house will smell heavenly. All I found was a hard to clean mug and no fresh vanilla scent. Pinterest fail!

Pinterest Copycat Starbucks frappucino

The post here from pinterest is supposed to mimick the starbucks frappucino, with the recipe from pinterest, the end result was absolutely disgusting in my opinion. It was filled with way way too much sugar. I even tried adding more creamer and milk to dilute the sugar, didn't really help much. I recommend searching for a better recipe, If I find one I will post it.
